Specialty Medical and Surgical Care
Guelph Eye MD provides specialty medical and surgical ophthalmology care. Our doctors are ophthalmologists — medical specialists who diagnose and treat complex eye conditions and perform eye surgery.
For New Eye Concerns
If you have a new eye concern, we recommend starting with a local optometrist for primary eye care. Optometrists can assess your condition and provide treatment or refer you to an ophthalmologist if specialty care is needed.
A referral is required to be seen at our clinic.
Urgent Eye Concerns
If you have an urgent eye concern and cannot be seen by an optometrist, please go to your local emergency room for immediate care.
How to Get Referred
Your optometrist or family physician can refer you to Guelph Eye MD. They will send your referral directly to our clinic.
Once we receive your referral, our doctors will review it to determine if your condition is appropriate for our practice and if our doctors have availability. Not all referrals may be accepted. This depends on our current capacity and whether your eye concern is best suited to be managed by our ophthalmologists or another specialist.
If we accept your referral, you will be contacted by your optometrist or family physician with your appointment details.
Important: Wait Times & Changes to Your Condition
There may be a wait time for your first appointment at our clinic. If you experience any new changes to your eye condition while waiting for your appointment, please contact your referring optometrist or family physician for reassessment.
